Sandra Lee Matthews

Sandy was born March 25, 1947 in Albion, the daughter of Robert and Ruth (Holtz) Matthews. She graduated from Albion High School and was a lifelong resident of Albion. Sandy was active in babysitting many children during her life and will be known for her regular bicycle rides through the streets of her beloved Albion. She attended Westwood United Methodist Church in Kalamazoo and volunteered as an usher, hostess, and helped with the pasty sales and semi-annual basement sales in support of community and worldwide mission projects. She loved cats and enjoyed reading about military history.

She is survived by her brothers, Robert (Carol) Matthews, Michael (Wendy) Matthews, and Stephan (Connie) Matthews; sister, Roxanne (James) Frey; her very special cousin, Marti (Robert) Nash; numerous nieces and nephews, and her extended family at Maple Grove Apartments.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service is being planned for Maple Grove Apartments on Sunday, November 17 at 3 p.m. in the Community Room.

A private interment will be scheduled in the spring at Riverside Cemetery in Albion.

Memorial contributions can be made to the local animal shelters. She will be sadly missed.
