William Edward Anglin was born in Riverfalls, Alabama on May 23, 1923 the seventh child of the late Albert and Viola (Samuels) Anglin. He attended elementary schools from 1st through 4th grade in Riverfalls, Alabama; 5th grade in Bethlehem, Alabama; 6th grade in Covington County training school in Andulasia, Alabama; 7th through 8th grade at P.S. 14th Queens, New York; 9th through 11th grade at Manhattan High School of Aviation trade in New York; 12th grade at Washington Gardner High school in Albion graduating in 1941.
William married Beatrice Ernestine (Harris) on March 15, 1947. To this union were born eleven children. He was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church.He worked during the war up at Civilian Conservation Corp. in Northern, Michigan. He was Recording Secretary of Local 474 for Harvard Industries/Hayes Albion, MI. He retired from Harvard Industries/Hayes after 43 years of loyal service. William was affectionately known as “Coot”. He loved to fish and hunt. He had fun with family and friends while playing cards and he was always happy to school others on how to play. He was a mentor to both young and old
He was a member of the St. Nichol’s Masonic Lodge, #12 and 32nd degree Master Mason – Peninsular Consistory #44. He was a member of Men of Vision and received the NAACP award 2018.
He is survived by his daughters Valorie (Lorenzo) Short, Pamela Brown, Jennifer (Herschel) Caldwell, Darla Moorer and Kathy (Raymond) Wyrick all of Albion, Michigan; sons Melvin Anglin, Westland, MI; Ronald (Bonnie) Anglin, Albion, MI; Donald Anglin (Jacqueline Brown), Flint, MI; Daniel Anglin (Judy Hasty), Ann Arbor, MI; and Edward Anglin, Albion, MI; 42 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, adopted children and special friends. Special nieces Matilda Ligon and Virginia Stephens. William was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice, his parents, his brothers John Henry, Willie, Clifford and Robert, sisters, Matilda, Annie Mae, Clydia and Lizzie, half-brothers Dave and Claude McCreary and daughter Viola Marie Anglin.
