
Graves, Charles R., age 81, of Louisville, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013 at UT Medical Center. Mr. Graves was a US Navy Veteran serving as a Physician’s Assistant aboard an Aircraft Carrier during the Korean War. He graduated from the University of Tennessee and retired from the UT Institute of Agriculture Plant and Soil Science department as a Professor of Agronomy. He received numerous awards for his research work with the UT Experiment Stations across the state during his forty year tenure with the University. He also coached Lakemont Pee Wee football and minor league baseball for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Mary Kate Williams Graves and one sister of Wilson County. Mr. Graves is survived by his wife of 59 years Myra J. Martin Graves of Louisville; daughter Cecilia Lohr and husband Ronnie of Friendsville; sons, Charles F. “Chuck” Graves of Englewood, TN; Curtis Graves and wife LeAnn of Maryville; Carcie Graves and wife Suzanna of Maryville; sister Mary K. Graves of Mt. Juliet; five grandchildren: Autum, Katie, Indianna, Tyler and Ava Graves; uncle, John C. Williams and wife Mabel of Goodlettsville; niece, Vera Ray of Franklin; nephew, Willie Watkins Jr. of Lebanon; and several cousins. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday April 16, 2013 at 3:00 PM in the mausoleum chapel at Sherwood Memorial Gardens with Minister Jim Knowels officiating. Entombment will follow in the Sherwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until time for the funeral service at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
