David Gene Branton, Sr., age 86 of Maryville, Tennessee, after fighting cancer for 8 years went home to heaven with family by his bedside. He was an Army Korean War Veteran who served in the 7th Infantry 73rd Tank Battalion as a gunner. He retired from Rheem Manufacturing after 30 years of service. After his retirement he worked at G&T Industries and Murrell Brothers Tires to completely retire in 2017. He enjoyed watching the TV Shows of his era and family dinners.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Branton and Winnie Hyde Branton; brothers, R.L. Branton, Jr., and Clayton Branton. He is survived by his loving wife Wanda of 59 years; Children; David G. Branton Jr., Cathy F. Borden, Debbie Normand, Teresa Tackett and Matthew Branton; grandchildren, Jason Chapman, Crissy Borden, Tony Borden, Jeremy Evans, Andrea Cantrell, Kyla Branton, Tyler Tackett and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 11:00am-12:00pm on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Sherwood Chapel and Memorial Gardens, 3176 Airport Hwy Alcoa, Tennessee 37701 with a service to follow officiated by Danny Davis.
