Ray was born Aug. 27, 1974, in Newport News, VA.
After graduating from Sevier County High School, Ray served in the U.S. Army (101st) from 1992-1997 and the National Guard from 2006-2014. During his service he was deployed to Korea, Bulgaria, Iraq, Kuwait, and Quatar.
Ray was an exceptional and loving son, brother and father. Service, courage and loyalty ran through his blood. Ray had a fierce and unwavering love for his family and country.
He is survived by his Mother Julia F. McCammon; Father Samuel D. McCammon, Jr.; Son William “Liam” Connor McCammon; Daughter Sarah Mauren McCammon; Son Evan Ulfsson McCammon; Sister, Samantha McCammon Smith; Brother Joseph A. McCammon; and Sister Valerie McCammon Smith.
Ray’s interment will be held on Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at 2200 East Governor John Sevier Hwy., Knoxville, TN.
