Gil's family and my family lived next door to each other in Atlanta in the Greenbriar area at a subdivision called Deerwood. What a great friend and representative of Delta Air Lines and family values he was. Him being a Marine, I can remember he had spit shined his work shoes and set them in the sun on a trash can behind his house to make them shine like no tomorrow. Unfortunately, the trash pick up company came and of course emptied the trash can plus took the shoes thinking they were a gift.

A tremendous  gentleman including his family with Rosemary and Michelle to have had the pleasure to be my neighbor and part of the Delta Family.

We knew Gil through his sister Kay, and the church.  We remember their kindnesses, laughter and enthusiasm.   Louise worked with Kay in the women's group and religious education program.  Gene drove us, and two other women.,  to a convention in Kentucky years ago.    Both of them had strong faith and family commitment.  Rest in peace, Gil; may angels guide you home.



Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Phil, I want to express my deepest sorrow to you and to Gil’s children for his passing. I will keep you and Gil’s family in my prayers.

So sorry to hear of Gilbert's death.  I always think of your family and mine going back to the beginning of OLOF.  Remember your mom driving Fr. Baltz around and your family being involved in the church as ours was too.  Remembering Gilbert and Betty in high school.

Gil was a supervisor/manager who successfully got the most out his employees. You did your best for him that you could, simply because he showed how hard work benefitted all.

Gil was one of my first Supervisors at Delta 11/30/64. Over the years I came to know him as one of the finest, trustworthy and respected men at Delta that I knew. He'll be missed my many.

Gil was one of the finest men I had the privilege of working for and with!! He was one of my first Supervisor’s at Delta.
I got in to trouble for hitting a fellow employee I caught stealing cigarettes from a passenger’s bag. That employee ended up being terminated. However, I was suspended 3 days for fighting. I got really upset that I got into trouble, I just didn’t feel it was right that I was disciplined. Gil took my aside and talked to me for about 30 minutes. That talk changed my entire attitude and has remained with me to this very day!! 
Many years later I told Gil that he helped me mature and most likely saved my job.
When I retired after 38 years I sent Gil a message thanking him for helping make my career a success.

My prayers are with his family and all the other Delta  employees that Gil’s life had such an impact on. We love you Sgt!!!

A wonderful person, mentor and leader at Delta. Gil was my first supervisor at Delta when I started in 1966. He taught me many things about how a leader should be and that helped me later in my leadership career at Delta. Rest in peace my friend, you will be missed by many on this earth.

I had the privilege and pleasure to work for and with Gil for many years. He was truly a great person, mentor, leader, and friend. Gil was one of the many in his day that made Delta the greatest in the Industry. May God's Blessings be upon Gil and His Family. God Speed, Gil. Semper FI !

Started work at Delta in Atlanta in 1965 and did not take long for Gil  to become my ( and many others) favorite Supervisor.

He was always tough but fair.  Thoroughly enjoyed working with/for him . He was a good person.

My very first ever supervisor at Delta. Atlanta F rotunda ramp team, fall and winter 1968. What a great start to my 30+ years, just knowing this kind wonderful man. When I recount stories of my time there, he is in them to this day. He’s with Jesus now. For that reason sorrow turns to joy.
