James Claiborne Fitzgerald, age 70, of Maryville, born May 15, 1948 to Alversa and Melvin Fitzgerald in Knoxville, Tennessee, went to be with Jesus Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Blount Community Church. James was a 1966 graduate of Austin High School in Knoxville. He received his Bachelor's degree from Knoxville College and earned his Master's degree from the University of Tennessee. With his degrees and training, he was able to hold manager positions at KCDC in Knoxville and Plant Supervisor at the Alcoa Aluminum plant in Alcoa, Tennessee. James was preceded in death by his parents; brother Melvin H. Fitzgerald; sister Doris (Bill) Mitchell; and his father-in-law James Roosevelt Black; and brother-in-law David Black. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Germaine Fitzgerald-Black; daughter Theresa M. (Gene) Curry; son Chedrick W. (Michelle) Fitzgerald; special granddaughters Satoria Curry and Aleigha Meyers; and great-grandson Zayne Meyers. He also leaves to mourn his passing his sister Nancy Fitzgerald; mother-in-law Mary M. Black; brothers-in-law Dwain, Martin, Marvin, Terry, and James Black; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to his church family for their love and care. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 from 5:00pm until 6:30pm at Blount Community Church, 1533 W. Lamar Alexander Parkway, Maryville with a celebration of life service to follow at 6:30pm, Revs. Jeff Fuchs, Kenny Crook, and Jim Hall officiating.
