A truly remarkable man
A husband to just one, his wife Joan married for seventy years, a father to four, a father-in-law to four, a grandfather to twelve, a great-grandfather to thirty, a friend to many, a lowly worker to many, loved by many animals, hated by garden weeds, an evangelist to many, a preacher to many, a faithful bondslave to One, and now a citizen of heaven.
He had memorized much of the Word of God along with many hymns to an extraordinary level. It was his guiding light and his inspiration for a lifetime. He was a man of much prayer and faithfully prayed daily for the family, particularly for their salvation and growth in Christ.
His love for his Savior inspired him to play his trumpet with a sweet tone the many hymns that he knew and loved. His faithful wife played the piano alongside of him and many will recall their passion for music that exalted the Lord.
His faithfulness to his two special grandsons and their poetry was remarkable. Their lives will be forever impacted by his prayers and trumpet playing.
He will not be remembered for corporate success, career advancement, athletic accomplishments, cooking skills, or ability to run the clothes washer.
Ultimately, he was a man we will remember for our lifetimes as a truly remarkable simple man whose life was free from the complexities of dishonesty or ulterior motives. He knew and loved the Lord and now he enjoys the joy of his Master in ways he never even dreamed he would experience. Well done good and faithful servant!
