

Thelma was born in Briercrest Saskatchewan on March 4, 1923. The family lived in various towns before settling in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She met her loving husband during WWII when she volunteered at the Airman's Club. Thelma and Bob Galbraith were married in Winnipeg in June 1947 and moved to Calgary Alberta in 1949.
Thelma worked for the Canadian Bank of Commerce while in Winnipeg. After moving to Calgary she continued to work before starting a family. Her life was then spent making a loving home for her family, raising two daughters while volunteering for the Girl Guides of Canada.
1971 saw another move, this time to North Vancouver, B.C. Her desire for a challenge and to be productive found her a job in the time office at Woodwards, Park Royal. She worked there for many years before retiring in 1988.
Retirement brought them to Abbotsford, BC. Her love of bridge, church, entertaining, travel and family, filled her days with happiness. In 2019 Thelma moved to Chartwell Cedarbrooke Independent Care in Mission, BC. where she continued playing bridge with her many new friends. In June 2023 she moved to Menno Home, Abbotsford for a higher level of care.
Thelma touched many lives with her caring outlook on life. Even in her final days her beautiful spirit and sense of humor shone through.
Her family would like to offer a heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Chartwell Cedarbrooke, Fraser Health and Menno Home for the wonderful loving care they provided. They will forever have a special place in our hearts.
Thelma is survived by her family, her daughters, Jan McCaghren and Barb (Darell) Munro. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Geoff (Jacquie) Lobley, Kathy (Ed) Moore), Mathew (Chelsi Anderson) Munro and Ryan Munro. She has 2 great grandchildren, Isaiah and Meya. She also leaves several nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Bob Galbraith in 2004. She was also predeceased by her siblings Muriel Golab, Larry Greenwood, June Slight and her son-in-law Rob McCaghren.
A private burial will be held at a later date.
