On Oct 1st, we said our goodbyes to our dad, (William) Bill Dyck. He had a very good, long life, but was tired at 98. Born in Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan, he is survived by his wife, Blanche, children Jim, Sharon (Lloyd), and Ceci(le), many grandchildren & great grandchildren, plus one sibling, Murray (Maria) Dyck, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Terry Sturley, daughter-in-law Margo Dyck, and his other 7 siblings.
Bill and Blanche moved our family to Langley in 1958, were hard workers, and eventually bought a hardware store and lumberyard in Fort Langley, naming it Frontier Building Supply. Not only did they work together 6 days a week, they filled their “spare time” square dancing for 50+ years, with the Buttons n Bows club, bowling, curling, golfing, camping with the family and snow birding down to Arizona for many winters. Together 24/7, they still remained in love.
7 months ago, they were separated when our mom was moved into full time care, with full dementia at 98 yrs old. She no longer remembers us. Our dad couldn’t live without her any longer.
His final wish was to take mom with him, to hold her hand all the way, but the law does not allow that. We can only hope they will be re-united soon, as her quality of life is no longer, nor is her soul-mate.
