Bill was a loving father and grandfather who especially adored his one granddaughter, Reese. He married Jan Sowell in 1966 and from this union was born their only daughter, Tanya Melton Taylor. He spent a few years in the National Guard, proudly serving his country. Bill retired after 40 years from Southwestern Bell where he started as a lineman and worked his way up to management. During retirement, most days you could find Bill out on the golf course. Bill loved animals, especially dogs.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter and son-in-law, Tanya and Michael Taylor; granddaughter, Reese Taylor; and brother, Milton Ray Purdy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Melton and Katherine Purdy; and sister, Suzette Jones.
