Doris Jean Dennis ("Nanny") of Mabelvale, age 90, died July 10, 2023. She was born in Plainview, AR on October 7, 1932. She is preceded in death by her parents Ruby Bell and Curtis Reed Westlake; husband, Clyde "Lucky" Dennis; daughter, Becky Jean Dennis; son, Dennis Dennis; sisters, Pauline Miller, Ruby Inez Lockhart, Wilma Perry, Ruth Metcalf, Patricia Westlake, Louise Edmondson, brothers, Curtis "Bud" Westlake Jr. and James Westlake. She is survived by sister, Mary Rose Jessup; daughter, Kimberly Dismuke; grandchildren, Leah Carter, Lindsey McFadin, Zachary McFadin (Chelsea), Presley Dismuke and four great-grandchildren. She was a graduate of Perryville High School and UALR where she earned advanced degrees in education and special education. She had a passion for education and was the first homebound teacher in AR to teach a student from 1st grade all the way through 12 grade graduation. Doris was a member of the Mabelvale United Methodist Church for over 50 years, was part of the Open-Door Sunday School Program and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, where she was often referred to as "Baby Face." She enjoyed participating in these programs and often volunteered for special committees and events. She had a passion for dancing and was often called "hot foot" due to her love of dancing, planning events and always being "on the-go." There will be a visitation on Saturday July 15th at 1:00-2:00, service from 2:00-2:30 at Pinecrest Funeral Home and Memorial Park (in Bryant, AR) followed by burial at Forrest Hills Cemetery.
