Peggy Jeanette Starr peacefully entered into Heaven’s Gates on April April 25, 2024. She was born on November 3, 1935 to the late Grady Akins and Flora (“Flara”) Clements. She was raised by her mother and the late C.D. Clements, who she knew as her father. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Doyle Wayne Starr; one brother, and two sisters.
Peggy loved her family and after she retired from Timex, her focus was caring for her loved ones. She loved to cook for any reason: church functions, coworkers, or just because it was a Saturday. One of her favorite times was cooking the big family holiday meals with all the trimmings. She loved to travel with her husband and other family members – whether it was a short weekend trip or a week at the beach.
She also loved babies, it didn’t matter whose baby it was. If she saw one, she was going to say hi to it and hold if it possible. She was the example of a good Christian woman who served through VBS, making her an excellent role model to many.
Peggy is survived by two daughters, Jeanette (Sammy) Stell of Lonsdale and Debra Shuptrine of Bryant; three grandsons, Michael (Shelly) Stell of Sherwood, Troy (Amanda) Stell of El Dorado and Nathan Shuptrine of Bryant; one granddaughter, Keri (Tab) Reinhold of Sherwood; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2024 at Pinecrest Funeral Home. Visitation will begin an hour prior to the service, 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Peggy will be laid to rest next to her late husband following the service at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
