Thomas Edward (Ed) Jones, 88, was taken home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 18, 2021. Ed was born on November 24, 1932 in Provo, Arkansas. He graduated from Lockesburg High School in 1951. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Virginia Wayne Jones; his son, Russell Jones; his parents, Virgil and Arlie Jones; sister, Bonnie Jean Brown; and brother, Robert Jones.
Ed honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War and rose to the rank of staff Sergeant. After his time in the military, he was a sheet metal worker and belonged to Sheet Metal Workers Union, Local 36. He owned and operated Crystal Valley Sheet Metal for many years before retirement. Ed loved all kinds of hunting, and enjoyed years of hearing his hounds run foxes, and making friends of other avid fox hunters. He never met a stranger, and seemed to know someone everywhere he went!
Ed’s greatest joy came when he was ordained as a deacon into the service of the Lord in 1976. He served as an active deacon at Westwood Missionary Baptist Church, Oak Park Baptist Church and Park Place Baptist Church.
Ed is survived by his daughter, Patricia Krogh, and husband, JR; six grandchildren: Corey Atkeison and Abigail Krogh of Athens, GA, Sarah Heflin and husband, Robert, of Hoschton, GA; Erich Jones and Bethanie Jones of Benton, and Ginger Jones of Little Rock, AR; and great-granddaughter, Madelynne Jones of Benton; and his sister, Susie Davidson, of Little Rock.
Special thanks and gratitude to Penny Washington for her compassion and care of Ed during the last years of his life.
