There was always a lot of "Boyhood" in Bernard. That's what made him so much fun to be around. The classic interesting uncle. I always looked forward to visiting him and looking through all his "junk."
Like he often said when you asked how he was doing, he did "Pretty good for a poor boy!" 
Yeah, "Poor Bernard."

Our hearts are saddened with the passing of our uncle.  One of the last of his generation left in our family.  Uncle Bernard was always there, every holiday, laughing and enjoying family life.  Recently a good family friend commented to me on my uncle, he stated that, He was a splendid gentleman who was the anchor of your mother's family.  As I look back I see exactly what this friend meant.  He was, always there, for his brothers, his sisters, his daughter, his grandchildren, and for the rest of us too.  In times of need, he guided the family through. He was soft spoken and had his own little comments to everything, which we all enjoyed and would chuckle with him.  You will be greatly missed Uncle Bernard and much loved by us all.

Deepest sympathy to Aunt Sarah & family. I will always have fond memories of Uncle Berndt and the way he would laugh. Grams (Dorothy/Dot) would always tell us stories about the adventures they had as children.
