"Sam"

Lt Colonel Bruce "Sam" Brooks passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 4, 2014 in Mount Vernon, VA, after a long battle with brain cancer. Sam was the beloved husband of Diane Miller Brooks; father of Joshua, Adam and Alicia; and grandfather of Maitreya. Sam is survived by his brothers Burke and Ernest Jr and his sister, Annabel. Sam was a 1968 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and held an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business. He was a 20-year Army veteran with significant command and staff assignments including deployments to Berlin, Vietnam and Korea. His exemplary service was recognized with numerous awards - among them a Silver Star and two Bronze Star medals. After leaving military service, he led a highly successful Organizational Development consultancy practice.

A memorial service for Sam will be held on Sunday, January 12 at 2 p.m. at the Aldersgate Methodist Church, 1301 Collingwood Road, Alexandria 22308, followed by a reception at the church. Interment at the Arlington National Cemetery will follow later in the year. All are welcome.
