Douglas H. Carter Jr.

Doug was born on April 15, 1959 to Evelyn and Douglas H. Carter Sr.in Honolulu, Hawaii. As an “Army Brat”, Doug traveled extensively with his family culminating in Alexandria, Virginia. After graduating from Fort Hunt high school in 1977, Doug went on to study Environmental Science at George Washington University.

Doug’s career included work with the Virginia Department of Soil and Water Conservation, VDOT, and various companies doing the environmental work that he loved.

A sports enthusiast, athlete, and musician, Doug enjoyed coaching his kids in basketball, soccer and baseball. In retirement he enjoyed playing music with friends and playing softball with the county adult recreation league.

Doug was predeceased by his parents and daughter, Sarah Carter. Doug was loved by many people, and will be greatly missed by his son Ryan, his former wife Susan, his sisters, Diana, Pat and Nancy and many friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S. Washington St., Alexandria, VA 22314. Family and friend’s visitation begins at 11 am followed by the service at 12 pm.
