

On Wednesday, November 16, 2011, Eileen Noone McCarty, 92, passed away at Greenspring in Springfield, VA from complications of a stroke. A resident of Alexandria, VA since the early 1950s, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Robert Lee McCarty, in 1997. She is survived by her three sons, Michael N. (Janet) of Great Falls, VA; and Patrick J. (Maureen) and C. Barry (Sue) McCarty of Alexandria, VA. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Timothy, Molly, Erin, Jake, Patrick, Jack, Bobby and Allison McCarty, and Lia Cain. Her grandson Luke McCarty preceded her in death. A native of Hamden, Connecticut, Eileen was the daughter of the late Charles B. and Rose T. Noone, and was predeceased by her brother Charles M. Noone and her sister Margaret N. Walsh. She received an associate’s degree from Larson Junior College (now Quinnipiac University) in New Haven, CT, and was employed in secretarial positions for Southern New England Telephone Co., the Connecticut State Medical Society, and the U.S. War Department before becoming a full-time homemaker. She was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Belle Haven Country Club, and several volunteer service organizations, including Catholic Daughters of America and the Belle Haven Women's Club. The family will receive friends and relatives from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm on Monday, November 21, at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S. Washington St., Alexandria, VA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday, November 22, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 310 S. Royal Street, Alexandria, VA, with interment following in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to either St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children, 6171 Kempsville Cir., Norfolk, VA 23502; or the Maryknoll Sisters, P.O.
