IN THE CARE OF
Demaine Funeral Home
Elizabeth Ann Tate Peters passed away at the age of 90 on August 7, 2019 at Inova Fairfax Hospital, Alexandria, VA after a brief illness.
Elizabeth was born on June 15, 1929 in Hickory, NC to Basil and Elizabeth (Williams) Tate, and grew up in Parkersburg, WV. Elizabeth had a zest for life and eagerly engaged in new adventures. She married Ralph C. Peters on September 2, 1950, and spent 60 wonderful years raising a family and exploring the world, traveling afar during the early years on Navy assignments, including Morocco and Iceland, and later in life in motorhome journeys. She proudly earned her private pilot’s license in the early 1980’s in Vermont. She enjoyed playing bridge and golf and appreciated the simple beauty in nature. She was a talented artist whose memory lives on in the paintings that she shared with friends and family. She was a strong woman who will be greatly missed by her family, but we know that she leaves us having enjoyed a full life well-lived.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Peters, and her daughter, Martha. She is survived by three children, Matthew, Libby, and Sara, six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren spread throughout the United States.
Elizabeth will be interred at the Arlington National Cemetery at a future date with her husband, Ralph and daughter, Martha.
