James Robert Kane

Age 86, of Alexandria, VA passed away on Friday, January 17, 2014. Beloved husband of 61 years of Catherine B. Kane; loving father of Roberta (Bryon) Stiftar, of Springfield, Robert Francis (Melanie) Kane of Alexandria, Christopher (Kristen) Kane of Alexandria, Catherine Jennifer (Alex) Buquor of Gloucester, and the late Michael Kane. He is also adored “Papa” of 7 grandchildren: Cory, Ryan, Adam, Matthew, Danielle, Kimberly, and Emily and 2 great-grandchildren: Lacey and A.J..

James was born on July 27, 1927 in New York and is the son of the late Walter Francis and Lila Perkins Kane. He served in WWII in the US Army and earned the Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal Japan. He enjoyed wood working, country music, Pabst Blue Ribbon, and most of all his family. He will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held at the DEMAINE FUNERAL HOME, 520 S. Washington St. Alexandria, VA on Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 2:00-4:00PM and 6:00-8:00PM where a funeral service will be held on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 11:00am. Interment with military honors will immediately follow in Mount Comfort Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in James R.
