Born in Queens, New York, on July 18, 1929, to John and Mary (Walsh) Mullin, James grew up taking the train to Manhattan and enjoying shows at Radio City Music Hall. After completing high school, James attended Villanova University in the Navy Cadet Program. Over his lifetime James earned a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees.
James had a highly successful career as a pilot, trainer, and navigator and earned many medals and commendations over almost 30 years of active service. James's career was marked by unwavering commitment to his country and exemplary leadership. His journey from a young recruit to a respected Captain was a testament to his tenacity and resilience. Beyond his military achievements, James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather whose steadfast support and affection were felt deeply by his family and friends.
James was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie (Nicholson) Mullin, and his daughter, Patricia (Mullin) Kelly. James is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Barry) Levine, grandson, Andrew (Mary) Levine, granddaughter Molly (Danny) Tiet, and great granddaughter, Abigail Levine.
