

June 5,2022. She was born on December 2, 1927 in Newburyport,
Massachusetts to Everett P. and Catherine (Sheehan) Bernard. Kay
was a graduate of Newburyport High School and a 1950 graduate of
Simmons College in Boston, MA. She was predeceased by her
husband, Robert.
Kay is survived by her four children, Kathy Druckman (Daniel) of
Barrington, RI, Robert Reilly, Jr. (Lindy) of Winnetka, IL, Peter Reilly
(Cristine) of Alexandria, VA and Joann Hughes (Donald) also of
Alexandria, VA. Kay is also survived by her 11 grandchildren and 16
great grandchildren.
While her children were students, Kay spent many hours volunteering
in their respective schools; St. Mary’s Elementary School, St. Mary’s
Academy and Bishop Ireton. Kay enjoyed the many international trips
she took with her husband, Bob, and was an enthusiastic beach goer.
She also enjoyed reading, stitching, and watching Sunday football with
family.
When not dividing her time between her homes in Alexandria, Virginia
and Marco Island, Florida, Kay enjoyed celebrating family milestones
at Ashford Castle in County Mayo, Ireland.
The family would like to acknowledge the friendship and love given to
our mother by her caregiver, Juliana Gyem. She was a gift to our
family.
A Catholic Mass celebrating Kay’s life will be held at the Basilica of St.
Mary’s, 310 S. Royal St. Alexandria, VA 22314 at 2:00pm on Friday
June 17, 2022.
Interment will follow immediately at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 1000 S.
Royal St., Alexandria, VA. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation
