On Friday, July 13, 2012, LYNN LOUISE GIBBONS of Alexandria, VA unexpectedly died in her sleep. She had celebrated her 65 birthday just a week previously, surrounded by family and friends. Lynn, a long time ESL teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools, was the beloved wife of former Reuters White House Correspondent Gene Gibbons. She was the loving mother of four children, Sean Gibbons of Silver Spring, MD, Jennifer Fox of Seattle Washington, Charles Gibbons of Richmond, VA and Rebecca Potfay, M.D. Of Richmond, VA. She was adored by her four young grandchildren, Charlie, Eli, Zoe and Hobbes.
Visitation will be held at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S. Washington St., Alexandria, VA from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 16. Funeral arrangements to be announced. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to United Christian Ministries of Alexandria, VA or the Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind.
