

Mary Jane (Criss) Wade died on December 13, 2015. She was born in Farmington West Virginia on August 27, 1941 to the late William F. and Violet V. Criss. She graduated from Fairmont State College in 1963. In August of that year she married her high school sweetheart Francis H. (Frank) Wade.
Mary was a teacher first in Alexandria, Virginia, then in Parkersburg, West Virginia and later in Washington DC. Throughout her life she was a civic leader with organizations such the Junior League and YWCA in West Virginia and later Samaritan Ministry in DC.
She is survived by her husband The Rev. Dr. Francis H. Wade of Alexandria, Virginia; son Steven (Linda) Wade and their children Jackson, Kathryn, and Haden of Traverse City Michigan; and daughter Jennifer (Nicholas) Greiner and their children Lila and Wade of Alexandria, Virginia. She is also survived by her sister Jean (Jim) Keedy, and brother Bill (Helen) Criss. Mary was known for her great warmth, grace, and hospitality.
A memorial service will be held at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Washington DC at 10:30 a.m. on December 18. Memorial contributions should be directed to Samaritan Ministries of Greater Washington 1516 Hamilton St. NW Washington DC 20011.
