

Michael was born on March 23, 1964 in Waltham, Massachusetts. He graduated from Waltham Vocational High School and continued on to receive multiple certifications in the Engineering field.
Michael is survived by his wife of 12 years, Rachel (Raru) Maloney. They were married on May 11, 2004, in Sanibel Island, Florida.
Michael worked for more than 13 years as a Senior Chief Building Engineer at Washington Real Estate Investment Trust. He was known for his indomitable spirit, openness, and wonderful sense of humor. He adored spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed nature, travel, golf and cooking. His most recent passion was building a home in Belize on the ocean as a legacy for his family to enjoy in his memory.
Michael is lovingly remembered by his wife Rachel and son Aidan of Alexandria, Virginia; sister Marsha Notartomaso and her husband Robert of Nashua, New Hampshire; brother Richard Maloney and his wife Brenda of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; brother David Maloney and his wife Kelly; brother Douglas Maloney and his wife Deborah; sister Lori Maloney and her wife Rebecca Connelly all of Framingham, Massachusetts as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Mary Rita Maloney, and his first wife Gretchen (Schlight) Maloney.
A visitation will be held at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S. Washington Street on September 3, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 310 S. Royal Street, Alexandria, Virginia on September 3, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Andrew Haissig officiating.
