Rosalyn Hood, known to those who loved her as Roz, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, at the age of 82. She was born in Edmonton, Canada, to Dorothy and Donald “Ross” McRae, and grew up in the beauty of Vancouver, British Columbia, where lifelong friendships were formed and a great love story was just beginning.
An only child, Rosalyn grew up alongside her cousins, a closeness she treasured throughout her life. She went on to study at the University of British Columbia, and together her childhood and college friendships became her extended family she carried with her for the rest of her life.
Rosalyn married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Hood, in December of 1966. What followed was a life full of adventure. Bob's career with Equifax took the young couple first to Kingston, Jamaica, where their son Robert "Rob" was born and then to Erie, Pennsylvania, where their daughter Michelle arrived. Eventually, Equifax brought the family to Marietta, Georgia, the place that would become their forever home together.
When Bob passed away twenty-one years ago, Rosalyn faced that loss with the same grace and quiet strength that defined her. She kept going, kept loving, kept showing up. Her family watched in awe, and they are so incredibly proud of the life she chose to live.
For the past eleven years, Roz found tremendous joy at Heron Pond, where her neighbors became family and her little community became home.
Rosalyn was a devoted mom who loved without reservation and thrived on connection — her tennis teams, bridge groups, neighbors, and beloved Friday night dinner crew were the rhythm of her life. Her circle was vast and genuine, and she gave to every person in it with the same warmth and loyalty she gave her family. She had a positive outlook that never wavered and a happy, even spirit that made everyone around her feel at ease. Her grandchildren knew this most of all — she adored them, and time with them was among her greatest joys. Roz was, quite simply, someone who was easy to love.
Rosalyn is survived by her son, Rob Hood and his wife Jennifer; her daughter, Michelle Hood Rosenthal and her husband Jeff; her grandchildren Megan Hood, Evan Hood, Caroline Hood, Emma Hood, Connor Rosenthal, and Bennett Rosenthal; and her great-grandson, Turner Hood-Kuoni.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Heron Pond Clubhouse, 511 Audubon Circle, Woodstock, GA 30188. In the spirit of Roz's joyful outlook on life, the family invites guests to wear cheerful colors to celebrate her in the way she lived.
