88, a native of Louisville, died Monday, January 18, 2016, in Alexandria, VA. A 1945 graduate of Saint Xavier High School, he held a Masters of Chemical Engineering from Speed Scientific School of the University of Louisville. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945, first in active duty and then in the Navy Reserve until retiring as a CDR. He also worked as an engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Fort Belvoir, VA.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Hannan Jacob, a native of Paducah, KY; son, William Hannan Jacob, Sr., of Virginia Beach, VA, and daughter, Sara Jacob Rothwell, of Alexandria, VA; a granddaughter and a grandson; and sister, Ursuline Sister Martha A. Jacob of Louisville. He was preceded in death by his parents, B. Irvin and Evelyn Quire Jacob, and sister, Mary Evelyn Jacob Shadowen, all natives of Louisville.
Funeral services and internment at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
