Al and I worked together in Orlando.  He was one of a rare breed who told you honestly what he though without preamble.  He was not a politician who told you what you wanted to hear.  His dry humor and wit were something that looked forward to every day, along with his endearing smile. Al was one of the few that I would go to for assistance when I had a mechanical question.  He might have moved at one pace but you knew that what he did was of excellent quality.  I will surely miss our e-mail chats and our yearly get together for miniature golf and dinner, where we rehashed old times and friends.  I miss you Al and hope to see you in the future.

Al literally took me under his wing as I began my career in aviation at Dupage County Airport in Illinois. Al was a great mechanic and in love with the pair of Cessna 310's. I will miss him, his emails and his jokes.

I worked with Al @ NASA for several years.We both enjoyed our job working on the space shuttle it really was a great job.  Al always had a joke or two to  say. He was one of the good guys. Art

We were only children when we met, 16 & 17.  I wore your class ring, wrapped in angora yarn for a full year.  Looking back I know your love was stronger than mine.  I only seen a good looking young man who I was proud to have by my side.  We lost contact for 50 years.  I'm glad we renewed our acquaintance through e-mail.  When your daughter informed me of your death, a part of my youth died too.  I'm glad you had such a successful life.  Your children can truly be proud of their father.

I will remember Al as a funny man with a dry wit; very intelligent and added much to the Vaughan family. Above all, Al loved his wife and children and his granddaughter. A man with a warm smile and could take teasing as well as dish it out...Al will be missed. My heart goes out to the family. Our deepest sympathy to the family as they grieve. He left many good memories, which will help in the healing process.  Love to all

Sometimes things are said just for the sake of sounding good and one can sense they ring hollow. Al was an honest and sincere person who was always straight forward and let you know exactly what he thought. I will miss that as it is a quality that seems to diminish and lose value more and more these days. Thanks for the lessons well taught Al.
