COL. (Ret.) James Frank Bodine

James Frank Bodine. Born in Indianapolis, IN on May 10, 1933, raised in Huntington, WV died July 8, 2021. Served in the Army for 28 years, with multiple combat tours, rising in rank from Private to Colonel. Holder of two Legions of Merit and two Meritorious Service Medals, the Bronze Star, Air Medals and numerous other decorations. Joined Martin Marietta in Orlando upon retiring from the Army in 1978. Retired from Lockheed Martin in 1997 as the Vice President for Program Development. At the request of the late Governor Chiles, formed and for 5 years chaired the Florida Aviation and Aerospace Alliance. Appointed to the Enterprise Florida Board of Directors by Governor Bush where he served for 5 years. Served on the High Tech Corridor Council. Appointed to Technology Panels by Mayor Hood. Served as the Vice Chairman of Florida’s Small Aircraft Transport System Consortium and as a consultant to Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. In 2002 Governor Bush named February 5, 2002 Florida’s Aviation/Aerospace in Service Day in his honor.

Enjoyed his retirement years owning horses and attending Hunter and Jumping competitions with his daughter, Erin, and his Granddaughter, Caitlin, as the successful riders.

James is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marjorie, and his children James (Trisha) Bodine of Liberty Hill, TX and Erin (Justin) Gabbard of Apopka, FL. James will be affectionately remembered by his grandchildren, Misty and Amy Bodine, Caitlin (Chris) Willis, Dylan and Brazos Leismann, great grand-daughter, Irelyn James Willis and his brother Bob (Kim) Bodine.

Graveside Service will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 9:30 am at Highland Memory Gardens, 3329 East Semoran Boulevard, Apopka, Florida.

What an amazing husband, dad and granddad! I always admired his commitment to his family - especially all his "girls"! He would have done anything for you!

I will miss our hearty reparte. He was a joy for me to know and I'm honored to have been counted among his friends and trusted advisors.

My sincerest heartfelt condolences to the Bodine family.
