Her Viewing will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church (742 Arlington Road off the Arlington Expressway) in Jacksonville, FL on Thursday, March 15th, 2018 from 10-11am. A Funeral Mass will be held at Christ the King Church after the Viewing at 11am with Father James Boddie Jr officiating. Following the Mass, a short grave site ceremony will be held at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218 (off I-295 and Lem Turner Rd.) where she will be laid to rest with her husband Calvin H. Imperial; Father Boddie will also be presiding. Details for the Reception of the guests following the grave site ceremony will be available prior to the day of the funeral.
Ida was born to Marcelina T. and Damian E. Gile in Irosin, Sorsogon, Philippines on February 7, 1933. Ida graduated from Irosin High School in 1952 and attended a year of college studying home economics. Ida married Calvin H. Imperial on June 16, 1957. Shortly thereafter Ida and Calvin, left the Philippines and embarked on their journey to the United States and Bremerton, Washington when Calvin joined the US Navy. After seven different tour of duty stations, from Washington to California to Virginia, Calvin retired from the US Navy and Ida and their three children settled down Jacksonville, Florida. They were happily married for 56 years, till Calvin’s passing in 2013.
Ida was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker and member of the Catholic Church. She prayed the Rosary every day. Ida would sing to her children when they were very young growing up. Doris Day songs were her favorite. She had a beautiful voice. When her children reached high school age, Ida worked part-time in retail and as a seamstress. Ida loved vacationing at their time-share and going to social gatherings with Calvin and their closest friends at the Fil-Am Club events. Ida had a passion for sewing, cooking, various arts and crafts and spending time with her six grandchildren.
Ida is preceded in death by her parents and all her five siblings: brothers, Fracisco T.Gile, Isaias T. Gile, Roberto T. Gile and sister, Isabel T.Gile. She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey D. (Rindy) Imperial of Jacksonville and Kenneth J. (Brenda) Imperial of Mililani, Hawaii and daughter, Janet I. (Scott) Baso of Longwood; and six grandchildren: Brittany Imperial, Lindsay Imperial, Brian Baso, Kenneth J. Imperial Jr., Tyler Baso, Jordan Imperial and one great granddaughter, Olive Marie.
