Michael Joseph Howard, 57, of Casselberry, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026. Born in Montreal, Canada he moved to Clermont, Florida when he was 12 years old. Michael lived a life defined by creativity, compassion, humor, and an endless curiosity about the world around him.
After proudly serving his country as a U.S. Marine, Michael followed his passion for technology into a career as a computer software engineer. He worked for SAIC where he made tank simulators to train soldiers on tank warfare. He then worked for LiveTv where he helped put internet on Jet Blue and United airlines. In 2012 he moved on to work at Electronic Arts. His talent, dedication, and imagination helped create video games including PGA Tour, NBA, and Madden. Through his work, he brought joy to millions of players around the world, quietly leaving his mark on the landscape of digital entertainment.
Michael was an imaginative spirit who never outgrew his sense of wonder. He found joy in reading, playing Dungeons & Dragons, video games, and a wide array of board and tabletop role-playing games. He loved watching old black and white movies and classic cartoons. He collected many comic books. In the late 80’s he joined the shadow cast of the The Rocky Horror Picture Show. It was here that he met the love of his life, Jennifer. The Rocky Horror Picture Show was an experience that blossomed into lifelong friendships and a beautiful marriage.
Those who knew Michael will remember him as funny, kind, intelligent, and deeply empathetic. His wit could light up a room, his insight could steady a storm, and his heart was every bit as brilliant as his mind. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a loyal friend.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Howard; his children, Skye Howard and Hunter Howard, his sister-in-law, Jade Ammones. And his father, John Howard He was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Schopmeyer; his stepfather, Gev Wood; and his stepmother, Ann Howard.
A celebration of Michael’s life will be held at Baldwin Fairchild in Altamonte Springs on February 22, 2026 from 2:00pm – 6:00pm. Though he is no longer with us in body, his memory lives on in the stories he told, the laughter he inspired, the worlds he helped create, and the love he gave so freely.
