Patricia's posterity is ensured in joy by her seven children (three women and four men), eighteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grand children, and two great great grandchildren. Of her siblings, a brother and three sisters survive.
Patricia was born on December 12th, 1927, the second of twelve brothers and sisters, to James and Mary (Smith) Norcross at Brooklyn New York. She was married to Charles Edwin Howlett on New Year’s Day 1950 and spent sixty years as his wife. She received her Registered Nursing Degree from St. John's Teaching Hospital in 1949.
During her nursing career she worked as the midnight shift OB/Gyn delivery room supervisor at the Winter Park Memorial Hospital for twenty-one years. During this time she helped bring over 3,000 new Floridians into the world. She retired from Winter Park Memorial Hospital in 1979. She then worked for the Seminole County Health Department sixteen years. For the last five of which she worked for nine months out of each year, before retiring full time.
For the three remaining months of each of these five years, she and her husband RV'ed throughout the entire lower 48 states. She also traveled worldwide, with trips to Japan, Iceland, Costa Rica, Ireland, Greece, and several other countries. She further enjoyed many Caribbean cruises.
She spent her last years especially enjoying the annual family reunions held in conjunction with her birthday. The last of these, in 2017, celebrated her 90th year of life.
Final services at Baldwin Fairchild, Altamonte at noon, with internment at Glen Haven Memorial Park at 1:30 pm are scheduled for April 15th, 2018.
