R. Alan Porreca, 66, of Orlando, Florida passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2016. He was born to his late parents Robert Thomas and Margaret Mary on July 9, 1949 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Alan later lived in Silver Spring, Maryland prior to moving to Florida to be near his sisters. Alan retired from his career as a mail clerk for the National Association of the Deaf and was a member of the Center of Deaf Catholic Worship in Washington D.C. Alan loved watching football and rooting for his favorite team: the Washington Redskins, or a close second, the Baltimore Ravens. He was preceded in his passing by his parents, Robert and Margaret, and his sister, Patricia Detweiler, and brother-in-law, Fay Detweiler. Alan is survived by his daughter Priscilla Hicks (Benjamin) of Tennessee, his sisters Dale Blass (Lew) and Roberta Porreca, and his three granddaughters Elauna, Aowyn, Lorien. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Alan’s name to the National Association of the Deaf (NAD). Funeral arrangements are under the care of Baldwin Fairchild West Altamonte.
