

Richard Francis Gallagher, age 84, died on Thursday, April 6 after a long and full life. He was very loved and will be missed terribly. If you would like to pay your respects, you are welcome to attend the memorial service we are holding in his honor on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home (994 E. Altamonte Drive, Altamonte Springs) at 10:30 am, followed by the burial at 11:30 am at Highland Funeral Home (3329 SR 436, Apopka).
He is survived by his adoring wife, Diana A. Gallagher and his stepchildren, Kristin Alten (and her husband Mark Miyake and children, Anya, Elena and Thomas) and Jennifer Alten (and her husband Basil Shepherd and children, Owen and Lucy). He is also survived by a daughter, Beth Elliott (and her husband Bob). Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Maureen Moeglin (and her son, Michael) and niece, Dana Gallagher (and her husband, David Waxman and daughter, Alexis) He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Gallagher.
Richard was a brilliant accountant and business executive. He started his career at Wisconsin Steel, was a vice president at Steak and Shake and subsequently ran his own accounting firm R.F. Gallagher and Co. for 45 years. “Pop”, as he was known to his grandchildren, delighted in being around kids and was adored for the gigantic bowls of ice cream he crafted for them, Krispy Crème doughnuts, board games and silly jokes. To the adults in his life, Richard was known as a loyal friend, savvy blackjack player and for always being the best-dressed person in the room. Richard and Diana were high school sweethearts who joyfully reunited 20 years ago.
Richard was born on April 29, 1938 in Gary, Indiana. He is a 1956 graduate of Horace Mann High School in Gary, Indiana and a proud Indiana University graduate. He received his MBA from the Booth School at University of Chicago.
Richard believed in being of maximum of service to others and the higher power, spending almost 50 years of his life in love and service to others as a member of a worldwide fellowship in which he touched the lives of thousands of people. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.

A visitation for Richard will be held Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 994 E ALTAMONTE DR, ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL 32701. A funeral service will occur Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, 994 E ALTAMONTE DR, ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL 32701. A committal service will occur Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Highland Memory Gardens, 3329 E Semoran Blvd, Apopka, FL 32703.
