

He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 31st, 1951 to Roger and JoAnne Teate.
The family later moved to McRae, Ga where many chose to call him “Ronnie”, and he later graduated from Telfair County High School. Throughout his life, he moved in between Georgia and Florida, and he eventually called Altamonte Springs, Florida his home.
Rodney had multiple career paths throughout his life from various auto mechanic positions to tree work. Ultimately he settled into the construction field where he rose to the job position of Project Superintendent for Vanson Enterprises, of Orlando, Florida where he oversaw many large projects, including some at the Walt Disney theme parks.
Rodney had a passion for sports in his adolescent years, until high-school when he experienced a career-ending leg injury during a Friday night football game. He grew up and moved in-between Georgia and Florida. He developed a passion for being outdoors, surfing, hunting, fishing, and canoeing. He loved anything that required you to use your hands, and enjoyed fixing things.
Rodney was preceded in death by his father Roger Henry Teate and his mother JoAnne Teate of McRae, Georgia, and his brother in-law Oscar Hulett of Hazelhurst, Georgia.
Rodney is survived by his three siblings: his older sister Bonnie Hulett, his younger sister Stacey (Jeneane Barber) Teate, and his little brother Nelson Lynn Teate; his wife, Lynda Lashley Teate, his five daughters: Missy (Stacey) Hamner, Jane (Terry) Peavy, Karla Teate, Kristy (Coley) Cox, and Patricia Teate; his eleven grandchildren who called him “Papa Rod”, and many great-grandchildren; his nephew: Mark Hulett and his grandnephews and grandniece.
At his personal request, there will be no services. The family will gather to celebrate Rodney at a later date.
