Roger Albert Rumney

Roger Albert Rumney, 78 of Orlando, passed away with his wife & son by his side on Thursday April 29 following complications from heart surgery. Roger was born Aug 1st 1943 in Pelham GA. He spent most of his early years in the farming communities of Pelham GA and Two Egg FL with his siblings and beloved grandmother, “Mama Nell” and family. Roger also lived for a short time in New York City. Roger and his wife Donna have known each other since their respective grandparents were married when Donna was 5 and Roger was 10. While attending college Roger worked as physiatric aide at the Chattahoochee State Hospital. Roger served in the Army as a Psychology/Mental Hygiene Specialist being based at Ft Hood TX. Upon completion of his service he and his family retuned to Florida to complete his education at Florida State University. While attending graduate school at FSU Roger worked as a veterans counselor, before being recruited to the Veterans Administration as a counseling physiologist and later as the Director of Veterans Affairs Central Florida Region. Upon retirement Roger and Donna moved to the Westminister Baldwin community to allow for more travel and frequent visits to their family farm. When there, he enjoyed endless projects, fun times with family & friends and driving his tractor “Big Blue” whenever possible. Roger is survived by his loving family; wife of 55 years Donna, son Don & daughter in law Sharon, grandsons Will & Tom, brother in law Bill Hewett. Roger will be laid to rest beside other dear family members at Oak Grove Baptist Church near their farm.
