Maria Angelina Gutierrez Montano, known as Angie, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, September 6, 2024 surrounded by family. She was 94. Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2024 at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. I-40, Amarillo. Burial is at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 14200 Texas Plains Trail, I-27 Canyon E-way, Amarillo.
Angie was born to Florencio and Lucinda Salazar Gutierrez in Puerto de Luna, New Mexico. She attended and graduated from Santa Rosa High School. She married Rudy A. Montano in Santa Rosa, NM on November 11, 1948. They later moved to Amarillo, Texas.
For more than 35 years, Angie was the hostess for the Executive Dining Room at Amarillo National Bank. She also owned Busy Bee Bar and worked at Morehead Cheese.
She is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers: Silviano Gutierrez, Matias Gutierrez, Marcelino Gutierrez, and Fermin Gutierrez; three sisters: Sally Maestas, Adelina Padillo and Dulcenia Donham; her husband, Rudy, whom she lost in 2006; her oldest son, Rudy J. Montano; youngest son, Freddie Montano; granddaughter, Annette Montano and great-grandson Allton J. Montano.
She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Taylor and husband Tony; grandchildren: Robert Mendez (Melissa), Paul Montano (Cindy), Rudy Adrian Montano (Faith), Shelley Christie, Tina Montano, Tifany Ingram, Freddy Montano (Kylie); great-grandchildren, Cameron, AJ, Desmon, Jonathon, Nikki, Dawson, Alyiah, Tatum, Jessalyn, Evan, Jericka, Addison and Emersyn; and 4 great-great-grandchildren, Kasen, Aedion, Kash and Cataleya; and many, many who considered her to be their own Grandma. She has 3 surviving siblings Florencio Gutierrez Jr., of Rio Rancho NM., Frances Hernandez of Amarillo and Bertha Baca of Vaughn, NM.
She loved her Cheetos, Orange Crush, Dubble Bubble and good times at the Casino. She loved and wanted to be surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren. They were there for her, always.
