Aubie "Hutch" Hutcherson, 80, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on February 26, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Hutch was born on February 14, 1945, in Amarillo to JR and Jane Hutcherson. He attended Amarillo Public Schools and graduated from Tascosa High School. Hutch dedicated many years of his life driving a truck for FedEx, a job that allowed him to connect with people and see the country he loved.
Family was at the heart of everything Hutch did. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and he cherished spending time with his family. He loved telling stories, sharing memories, and always had a way of making everyone laugh. In his free time, Hutch enjoyed fishing and racing at the dirt track—activities that brought him joy and allowed him to connect with his passion for the outdoors.
Hutch was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rita, and a grandson, Craig Cavanaugh.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rhonda; children Kenneth Hutcherson and wife Carmen, Tammy Smith and husband HL, Pamela Madden and husband Jarrod, James Hutcherson and wife Olga, Michael Hutcherson and wife Sarah, and Amanda Gandy and husband Jake; two sisters, Laura Potter and husband Don, and Sandy Hutcherson; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St., with Chaplain Danny Logan officiating. A burial will follow at Llano Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, March 3, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Hutch will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, laughter, and family will live on in the hearts of those he touched. The family would like to thank Interim Hospice, especially his nurse Kailey Mauer for the love and care they gave Hutch and His family.
