Barbara passed on March 9, 2024, with both her children by her side. Barbara was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas. Shortly after graduating from High School, she wed and moved to southern California where she got started in banking and got to take full advantage of her love of nature and the outdoors. Later in life she returned to Amarillo, and after her divorce, as a single parent, she embraced the challenges and financial adversities of raising two children by herself, and she ensured that they never had a want or a need that was not met. She believed in leading her children by example and took pride in her strong work ethic, and completed a degree in business and working for The City of Amarillo just shy of thirty years.
Concurrent to all of this, she was well known to regularly provide support and a place to stay for friends old and new. She loved her family and filled her home with warmth and kindness. Always seeking to better herself, through her love of books or through support groups, for more than two decades she was very active in mentoring others through their challenges in life. She unconditionally loved her children and grandchildren and supported them through the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. She was unselfish to a fault, often neglecting the needs of herself for the needs of others. She left a huge imprint on all of our hearts and will be greatly missed, but always with us.
Barbara is survived by her son; James Davis of Amarillo, daughter; Kimberly Davis of Austin, grandchildren Ashton Davis, and Gavin Davis of Austin, and sister; Kathie Musick and husband Jimmy Musick of Amarillo.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Francis Heck and Leslie Heck.
