Betty grew up on a farm southeast of Peabody and came to Amarillo in 1947. She married George Dewey in 1948, and together they lived on the West Coast from 1950 to 1957.
Betty worked at Montgomery Ward from 1972 to 1981 in retail sales and also did seasonal work for R.L. Polk & Co. from 1982 to 1994, and was most proud of her work with the School Host Program at Eastridge School about 10 years.
Betty had resided in Amarillo for 56 years and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church for more than 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters; and two brothers.
Survivors include two sons, Sherwood "Buddy" Edwards of Roswell, N.M., and John Dewey and Cindy of Amarillo; a daughter, Rebecca Arnold-Hines and husband Eddie of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three nieces; and seven nephews.
