Bonnie dedicated her life to being the best mother and wife she could be. She set an example of her strong faith in God by endeavoring to take her four girls to church every Sunday. She was the number one cheerleader for her daughters in all their school activities, but her greatest joy was seeing them each trust the Lord as their Savior. She continued the example of a strong faith throughout her life by teaching Sunday School and serving others. She was a great cook and also loved sewing clothes for her daughters, knitting, crocheting, and keeping her mind sharp by reading and working puzzles.
Bonnie was born on July 1, 1928 in Lipscomb, TX to her parents, Henry and Beulah Britton. Her family moved to Oklahoma where she graduated from Choctaw High School in 1946. After graduation she moved to Amarillo where she met the love of her life, Billie Joe Cartwright. They married April 19, 1947. Bill’s job took them to Sudan, TX, Sunray/Dumas, TX, Hobbs, NM and back to Amarillo upon his retirement.
Bonnie is survived by her four daughters; Billie Dauster and husband Lydell, Patsy Bain and husband Robert, all of Amarillo, Jo Ann Franklin and husband Jerry, of Canadian, TX, and Ida Richardson and husband Joe, of Scott City, KS, 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren, and one brother, Al “Buddy” Britton.
