A celebration of Carl's life will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 10am in the Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Director's Pioneer Chapel; 5400 Bell Ave in Amarillo.
Carl was born in Amarillo, Texas on November 29, 1960 to Carl and Loreta (Weems) Kunkel. By trade, he was a mechanic. He worked as an automotive technician for the better part of 30 years with places such as Plains Chevrolet, Russell Buick, Village Cadillac, and One Stop Auto. He loved cars, his favorite probably being the Chevrolet Corvette. Among cars, he enjoyed music, foosball, and motorcycles.
Carl was preceded in death by his father, sister Jolynn Mashburn-Kunkel, stepfather Walt Shannon, nephew Sean Mashburn, and grandson Devin Alexander Davis. Those left to cherish his memory are his mother Loreta, children Carl D. Kunkel IV of Amarillo, Lance Kunkle and wife April of Broken Arrow, OK, Shawn Kunkel of College Station, TX; Cyndie McConnell and husband Mike and Missy Patterson and husband Matt all of Clearwater, FL. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; niece Rhonda McManiss and husband Gene, and his aunt Jean Weems
