

Graveside Service were Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Memory Garden Cemetery with military honors, Pastor Jerry Davey officiating services were under the direction of Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors 5400 Bell.
Cecil served his country in the Marines from 1941-1946, after serving in the Pacific theatre he was honorably discharged. His careers included farming, electrician, and he was the “fix it man”. Cecil’s served Christ as a husband, father and a grandfather and a modeling citizen. He was active in the church nursery and drove the church bus for many years. He always voted and only missed two elections the first was due to military service and the final 2015 constitutional election due to health. He also served the children through the Kiwanians Club.
He was preceded in death by his parent, Will “Pop” and Dixie Winn. Brothers Fred and Tom; sisters Mary, Decla, and “Dolly”
Survivors include his wife of 62 years LaNelle of Denton; children MSG Greg Winn(R) of Denton; Cecelia and husband COL Jim Gardon (R) of Balcones Heights; and Sharon Winn of Denton. Granddaughters Nicci and husband Paul Eighmey of Austin; Stacy Domel and daughters Abby and Emily of Round Rock. His nephews Tim Winn and wife Carol, sons Jonathan and family and Alex from Amarillo as well as Bill Simmons and wife Bettie of Tucson were very special to him. Along with numerous nieces and
nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Good Samaritan Village for the loving care Cecil received during his stay there. We would also like to thank the home bound ministry of the First Baptist Church of Denton.
The family is honoring Cecil’s long time standing request to further education. His preference was in lieu of flowers donations be made to his scholarship fund. Alamo College Foundation 1819 North Main Ave. San Antonio, Texas 78212. (Cecil Winn Scholarship in notes)
