Charlene Ann Simons

Charlene Ann Simons, age 76, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023. Funeral services are scheduled for 10am, Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Second Baptist Church in Amarillo, Texas, with Pastor Paul Thompson officiating. Viewing will be held from 8am-5pm, Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors.

Charlene was born on November 17, 1946 to Doss Thompson and Reva Thompson in Amarillo, Texas. She graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1964 and worked as a bookkeeper for Bekins Van Lines. Charlene loved going to bingo before she became disabled and then she grew fond of playing solitaire on her tablet. She also greatly enjoyed taking all of her grandkids out on shopping trips. Charlene was very loving, caring, and sweet and her grandchildren were her world. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Amarillo.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jimmy Wayne Simons in 1986; her brothers, Charlie Thompson and Clyde Thompson; and her sisters, Wanda Thompson and Mary Lois DeRight.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kimberly Simons, of Amarillo, Texas; her grandchildren, Ramsey Parrie, Breanna Simons, Zoncie Grimm and husband, Thomas Grimm Sr. of Bellevue, Nebraska; her great-grandchildren, Jolee Grimm, Kynadee Grimm, Paislee Grimm, Everlee Grimm, Thomas Grimm Jr., David Grimm; two bonus daughters, Christy Fraley and Joanna Garcia; Charlene's best friend for many years, Beverly Coker, of Austin, Texas; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Charlene will be greatly missed.
