Donnie “Doc” Holladay was born July 3, 1937 to Bill and Clorene Holladay in Floydada, Texas. He was the oldest of five children. In 1949 at the age of 12, he was saved and followed up with baptism at City Park Church of Christ by Brother Waller.
He met the love of his life, Gwen Davis, and they married on January 26, 1956. They spent 66 years together before the Lord called Gwen home. Doc was a truck driver most of his life. He worked for Jack Cooper Transport over 30 years hauling new cars in Floydada and Amarillo. When they retired, he and Gwen moved to Howardwick where they enjoyed a short retirement. They quickly realized there was still work to be done. They became involved with the City of Howardwick and Howardwick Volunteer Fire Department. If that wasn’t enough, he started driving a truck again hauling compost. He retired again and they made the decision to move back to Amarillo to be closer to their girls, so the girls could help care for them.
Doc was preceded in death by wife Gwen on November 11, 2022, son Billy, his parents, his in-laws Hubert and Ruby Davis and brother-in-law Don Earl Davis.
He is survived by: son Rusty Holladay and wife Vicki of Deberry, TX, daughter Suzanne Braddock and husband Terry of Amarillo, TX, daughter Michelli Holladay of Amarillo, TX, and son Dustin Holladay and wife Jana of Frankston, TX.
