The ninth of nine children, she was born to Nina Zuleka Harris Wiley and William Oliver “Bud” Wiley on August 26, 1940 in Strawn, Texas. She moved with her family in 1953 to Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School. She attended Amarillo College in 1959. Doris married the love of her life, Danny Dixon, on May 4 1974. Danny preceded her in death in 1995. Doris retired from the United Postal Services in 1995. Previous employers had been Amarillo Public Library and Amarillo Police Department .
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, sisters Patsy Jean Griffith of Odessa and Wyneta Marie Walker of Amarillo; Brothers John Oliver Wiley of Newark, Delaware and Kenneth Dean Wiley of Amarillo.
She is survived by brothers Jess Donald “J.D.” Wiley and Herman Lee Wiley both of Amarillo; Sisters Wilma Ruth Harris of Amarillo and Nina Muriel Davis of Brownwood: numerous nieces and nephews, and her caretaker and best friend Tony Gann.
