Mrs. Houston was born Dec. 20, 1920, in Big Fork, Ark., to John and Leila Looney and raised in Amarillo. She married Hal T. Houston in 1956; he preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 2011.
Mrs. Houston worked for Dr. Ralph Payne for more than 20 years. After retirement, she enjoyed crocheting, needlepointing and reading. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Mrs. Houston was preceded in death by two brothers.
Survivors include a son, Rick West of Nacogdoches; a daughter, Shirley Hargus and husband Larry of Bartlett, Ill.; three grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.
