The family will receive guests on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 5pm to 8pm in the Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40 in Amarillo. A celebration of Ed’s life will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at 2pm in the funeral home’s Chapel of Memories with Phillip Elsheimer presiding.
Ed was born on June 14, 1939 in Fulbright, Texas to Bruce and Alice (Cawvey) Evans. He pursued many different career fields in his younger years before finally settling down as an auto mechanic, a career he held nearly most of his life. He married Ruby Grissom on November 06, 1958 in Grand Prairie, Texas, and together they shared many years of marriage. They raised four children throughout their many years together. Ed was a devoted family man. Everything he did was for his family and their wellbeing. In his spare time, Ed could be found fishing or working on race cars. If he was not there, he was watching a race somewhere.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, sister Irene Black, son Marcus Evans, and grandchildren Courtney and John. Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved Ruby, sons James and Rodney Evans of Amarillo, daughter Marie Kachiros and husband Pete of Amarillo, daughter in love Sylvia Alonzo-Evans; sisters Edna Talley of Paris, TX, and Lillian Edmonson of Tulsa, OK. Ed also leaves behind his grandchildren Nicholas, Carolyn, Amber, Amy, Kelly, Chris, McKenzie, James, Nicole, Joseph, and Britton; and his great grandchildren Katie, Nehemiah, Lillian, Alex, Zakariah, and Hollis, as well as many other loving family and dear friends.
