

Hattie Boren-Perkins, age 89, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023. Funeral services are scheduled for 10am, Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel. The family will receive visitors from 5-7pm, Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel.
Hattie was born on August 5, 1933 to Frank Thomas and Mary Ruth Callaway in Bula, Texas. She grew up in Muleshoe, Texas. Hattie worked as a saleswoman in retail for many years. She had a knack for sewing, gift giving, and cooking, especially the meals that she loved preparing for her church family at Bell Avenue Church of Christ. Hattie was the proud mother of five children, who tested her at times, but she was a very caring and devoted mother and loved her children greatly. She also loved all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Hattie was also very welcoming of anybody she came across.
Hattie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James David Boren in 1992; her three sisters, Mable, Dean, and Dorothy; her brother, Frank and her granddaughter, Tisha Stewart.
Survivors left to cherish her memory are her sons, James Allen Boren and wife, Terri, of Amarillo, John Boren and wife, Susie, of Amarillo, Edward Lee Boren and wife, Kelli, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her daughters, Margaret Stewart and husband, Bobby, of Amarillo, Linda Kay Vance and husband, Eddy, of Amarillo; her brother, Fred Thomas, of Amarillo; her sister, Donna Joyce Boone, of Dayton, Nevada; 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Hattie will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions can be made to the High Plains Children's Home in Hattie's honor.
