She passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family. In her younger years, Jaketta’s family moved to Amarillo, Texas, where she grew up and attended Amarillo High School, graduating in 1968. She fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a teacher by earning her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas. Jaketta returned to Amarillo after completing her education and dedicated her life to teaching at Bowie Jr. High and Palo Duro High School. Her passion for teaching touched the lives of countless students over the years. Beyond her dedication to education, Jaketta was someone who always wanted to help people in need, demonstrating politeness and genuine care to everyone she encountered. She married the love of her life, Bob Paris, who owned a commercial real estate company. Upon retiring, they embarked on numerous adventures, traveling the world together and enjoying every moment of their journey. Jaketta is preceded in death by her husband, Bob Paris, as well as her father, Jacob Mangold, and her mother, Eunice Mangold.
She is survived by her beloved son, Tyson Cobb, and his wife, Keri, along with her three treasured grandchildren: Shay (30), Seth (22), and Parker (17). She is also survived by her sister, Alice Johnson, and her husband, Johnny, along with their three children, Breezy, Blair, and Berkley, who she loved dearly, as well as eight great-nieces and nephews. Jaketta’s legacy of love, education, and helping others will be remembered by all who knew her. Her gentle spirit and dedication to her students and loved ones will forever be appreciated.
